Montanya (mun-tahn-yah) means "mountain" in Spanish.
Oro means 'gold' and Platino means 'platinum'.
Although most people associate Rum with the Caribbean,
the spirit also has very distinguished and celebrated origins in the
mountainous regions of Central America. We wanted
our names to give a nod to this specific aspect of rum's storied
past. Since making rum in the mountains is a big
part of part of our story too, it seemed like a natural
fit. Of course, we also liked the lilt and sexiness of
the words. We removed the traditional 'enye' from
Montanya and
gave it a 'y' instead. No offense, people of America,
but we didn't trust you to look at the word 'Montaῆa'
and not say 'Montana', like the state north of Wyoming.
This is a Colorado product through and through.
